With reseller hosting, a web hosting company manages the data centers, servers, and resources, while the reseller controls the account and resells the services as their own. Whether you’re interested in using a reseller, becoming a reseller, or just weighing your options, here’s what you need to know:

How Reseller Hosting Works

Reseller web hosting has its advantages when done well. A reseller will work directly with the parent hosting company to manage their hosting accounts. Parent hosts often give discounts to resellers for buying in bulk and acting as a sort of salesperson for them. The reseller will then market the parent company’s resources as their own. Essentially the reseller will share the server resources of the account or accounts it controls. The parent company will then manage and maintain the account. Many hosting companies have reseller packages available.

Common Features of Reseller Hosting Packages

If you’re thinking of becoming a reseller host, many hosting companies will offer packages designed for reselling their services. Here are some features of a typical reseller package as provided by a parent hosting company:

  • Account management
  • Disk space
  • Bandwidth
  • Domain hosting

The parent company will also let you advertise their features and resources as your own. This might include tools such as email account management, control panels, and monitoring tools.

Benefits of Choosing a Reseller Host

Why would you choose a reseller instead of working directly with the parent hosting company? Reseller hosts often offer additional services so you can get a package deal. In addition to hosting services, a reseller may offer graphic design, digital marketing, database programming, website design, and more. Resellers often start out as companies offering one service like website design and then realize they need web hosting for themselves as well as their clients. So, instead of sending their clients off elsewhere, they’ll resell hosting services and act as a one-stop-shop for you.

This is beneficial for you because you don’t have to worry about website hosting. Your reseller will communicate with the parent company for you. If you experience problems with downtime or bandwidth, all you have to do is let the reseller know. They’ll work with the parent company to solve the problem for you if they can’t solve the problem themselves. You may also save money by going through a reseller for hosting services. Because resellers often purchase server resources in bulk, their parent company might off them discounts, which means savings for you too.

Disadvantages of Reseller Hosting

In order for you to benefit from reseller hosting, your reseller must be reliable and trustworthy. If you don’t have a reputable reseller, you could actually spend more on hosting services than if you worked directly with the parent company. Resellers have the opportunity to charge for certain features that the parent company may provide for free. As with most products and services, check reviews and research potential resellers to see how transparent and trustworthy they are.

Another disadvantage of reseller hosting is support. If you have a problem with your hosting service that your reseller doesn’t know how to solve, it might take longer to fix the problem. The reseller would have to take your concerns to the parent company and request their help. In some cases, you would arrive at a solution faster by eliminating the middleman and going directly to the source. As long as you have a reliable and knowledgeable reseller this shouldn’t be a problem.

After deciding pair Networks is right for you and your clients because of our unbeatable quality, reliability, and transparency, what’s next?

Step One: Register Three Accounts

First, you need to register three active packages on a single billing account before you can become a reseller. If you’re not in a rush to get all of your websites hosted, you can use this as an opportunity to test out pair’s services. Start by registering one account at a time and see how it goes. You’ll find we have a friendly and knowledgeable support team and a variety of useful features for our easy-to-use account control center.

Step Two: Merge Your Accounts

Once you have enough accounts set up, contact our Billing Team to merge your accounts into one reseller account. You can reach them here:

Once you have reseller status, you’ll receive a 5% discount applied to the monthly bill for your three accounts. This discount increases as you add more packages to your reseller account.

Step Three: Manage Your Accounts

Once you have your official reseller account set up with a reseller ID, you can control all of your accounts from one place! When you log in to your pair Networks reseller account, you can:

  • Add or remove accounts in the RCC (Reseller Control Center)
  • Add different types of packages like shared hosting, WP hosting, and VPS hosting
  • Make payments for all of your services from one billing account
  • Add different authorized users to various packages as needed

Now, you’re all set to be a pair Networks Reseller! Many resellers build the cost of hosting their client’s websites into their service fees to simplify payments. (If you’d prefer your clients make their own hosting payments, you can keep the billing accounts separate in a non-reseller status, but you might miss out on the discounts.)

As the manager of the reseller hosting account, you become the main contact for any support issues your clients experience such as problems with email and password resets. You can add additional users to your packages so that they can share the responsibility if you become overwhelmed by tech support issues.
