meet the team: emily, technical writer at pair
Emily joined the pair team almost two years ago as a Tech Writer. She manages the Knowledge Base (KB) and writes the majority of our tutorials for various emails as well as the KB.

Q: What’s one thing you want people to know about you or your role at pair?

A: I love making the KB better so, please please please send me any criticism or feedback. Since the KB is an ever-changing entity, there is always work to be done, but I don’t always realize it. If you see anything/ have an opinion/ have an idea, let me know!

Q: Where are you from?

A: A rural town in South Central Pennsylvania. No one has ever heard of it. Mostly farms and trees. The biggest upset in the area during my childhood was when they installed a stoplight in the county next to us. Oh, and when we upgraded from dial-up in 2013. That was a big deal, too.

Q: Where did you go to school?

A: Penn State University. Majored in English, minored in Technical Writing and Information Sciences & Technology.

Q: What was the last book you read?

A: I’m about to finish The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. It’s been very twisty, repeatedly making the reader doubt what they know. I’ve really enjoyed it so far and I’m looking forward to seeing how it ends.

Q: What TV show are you addicted to right now?

A: Person of Interest/ Bones/ Game of Thrones/ That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

Q: Do you have any pets?

A: One cat named Seeley. He’s nicknamed “Squeaky” because he makes little trilling noises instead of meowing. He’s a social butterfly (both to other cats and humans… though God forbid he sees a dog) and loves all toys. When I found him, he was really underweight and we thought he was a few weeks old instead of two months. He promptly proved us wrong when we tried to bottle feed him and he chewed through the bottle topper. He’s grown a lot since then and will be about a year old in June.

Q: If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

A: Telekinesis – because I always realize I’ve forgotten something once I sit down.

Q: What’s the coolest thing you’re working on right now?

A: My fiancé and I are currently getting all the pieces together to start working on our own Project Oasis.

Editor’s Note: Project Oasis is a fun science project from Google. They created code that allows a terrarium to be interactive. You can use Google Assistant to ask about weather conditions in different parts of the world. The terrarium will then mimic the weather by adjusting the light or creating mist and rain.

You can learn how to use everything from our Account Control Center to WordPress with Emily’s tutorials on the pair Knowledge Base.
